Bartimaeus Cohousing Community is founded by former L’Abri members Rich and Barb Buckham and former Shiloh members Walter Conrad (1970-1978) and Nancy (Lennstrom) Conrad (1972-1978). Cohousing began in Denmark in the 1970s as groups of neighbors got together to figure out how to design the architecture of their community to better serve their needs. Today there are over 80 such communities in the US, with many more planned. Bartimaeus is comprised of 25 fully functioning, individually owned homes with a spacious center, called a common house, where community meals and other events are held. At Bartimaeus, most residents share a common Christian faith perspective. However, we also include others who agree with the values of the primary mission. We endeavor to bring out the best in each other through active listening, mutual respect, an appreciation of differences, and honest caring. Decisions affecting the community are made by consensus. There is no single leader, no pooled incomes, or other required communal practices. This is a unique neighborhood, not a commune or a church. We do not exist just for ourselves, but to assist others. Bartimaeus includes a guesthouse for a family to stay for 6-12 months. Construction is complete and 24 of 25 units are sold. Our residential community is located on 7 acres of beautiful property in Central Kitsap County, Washington, west of Seattle and north of Tacoma. For more information, please visit our website: www.bartcommunity.org. Or email Walter or Nancy directly at walter@bartcommunity.org  or nancy@bartcommunity.org

Hosea Youth Services - Project -    HYS-Project, is an outreach to homeless youth ages 20 and under. We have a drop in center in downtown Eugene, offering: meals, laundry, showers, clothing, blankets, and a safe, dry, warm place to be off the streets along with the hope of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We hope, God willing, to provide overnight shelter for them before winter, but funding and some Eugene politics are a bit troublesome. But our God is much bigger than both. There is a lot of interest in what we are doing. A real blessing indeed as God is calling volunteers from many different churches to participate in offering these displaced youth what God provides. Interestingly, this has a real "Shiloh" feel to it, and I often marvel at the similarities. And wonderfully, it is thrilling to witness God at work with this generation . . . We think something big is about
to bust loose, To God be the glory!
